Well I had to do it!
TM and TMW live only 20 mins from the largest Ikea in the world in Uppsala, and I know that TMW loves a trip to Ikea, not just for the fab usual stuff, but for the Swedish Meatballs!!
What a hoot!
We had lunch in the HUGE cafeteria after a stroll around the first floor. You can see TMW there with our special tray trolley - you can put 3 trays on there and get it back to your table without spilling one drop of Brown Sauce. GOLD!
So, I tucked into my Kotbulletallrick, which are Swedish Meatballs served with Brown Sauce (yep, that's the translated name) and mashed potato and of course the compulsory Lingonberry Jam. And it was GREAT. I bloody loved it - it's wacky that the Lingonberry Jam really works.
You can see too, in the pics above, a sausage. Now this is a special Swedish sausage called Isterbund, or Lard Sausage. No, it's not made from pure lard, it's a tangy porky, meaty sausage that is served with beetroot. I had been warned that it was pretty gross...but I have to say IT WAS AWESOME!! I loved it even more than the Swedish Meatballs!!! Even TMW, who had actually never tasted it thought it was pretty damn fine!
So, a good time was had by both of us there at Ikea, then it was off to explore Uppsala, which is a beautiful old town, and a university town, so full of people, bikes, and they were actually filming a Daniel Craig movie in one of the main streets while we were there! COOL!!!
Now after such a great day...it was off to Stockholm for a bit of touristing and to a very very special restaurant...stay tuned...
