What a weekend!
Saturday was Skansen, Stockholm's zoo. But it's more than a zoo, it's an open air museum. This place was incredible. Skansen has collected original buildings from all over the country, dating from hundreds of years ago and representing all three traditional regions of Stockholm, to form a large historical Swedish "village".
You can go to the bakery, or the glass blowing workshop, even the hardware store. You can see the allotment huts from allotment vegetable plots from the countryside, the tallest belfry in Sweden, a huge Maypole, and a 15th Century farm house.
All of it's original, which is just amazing. And as you wander through the "streets", you will come across the zoo which shows the wonderful Swedish wildlife such as moose, bears, owls, there's a Lynx there on display and even a family of Wolverines!
We spent a couple of hours there on Saturday afternoon, and it just wasn't enough for me, I'm going back tomorrow...I missed out on the General Store, which I believe sells traditional Swedish lollies! Bugger.
