Well um this has not alot to do with food - it's more an excuse to make you all green with envy (at least I'm honest)!!
I just got back from the Tiki Bar! Oh myyyyyy. While I was waiting for my grilled grouper, fried plantains and coleslaw (pic above), I took a dip in the sea - the Tiki Bar is right on the beach! Then I had a chat with the owner of the Tiki Bar who was cleaning his conch shells to sell to tacky tourists who get their photos taken with him. Yes well.
The conch (pronounced "conk) is actually the local delicacy - the Bahamas, apparently, is famous for it. I had planned to go and eat conch today at the best place on the island, but unfortunately, due to the wind here at the moment and the cloudy water (cloudy??? Crikey, can't wait to see it when it's clear!), the divers won't be going out again for a few days. Bugger! The conch is the little critter that lives inside the big shells you see above, I've never eaten one before, and am busting to try it. Apparently the Tiki Bar does a mean Conch Salad, will post it if I get to taste it!
PS.I think I've arrived in paradise.
PPS. Plaintains are just like eating raw banana, but a bit sweeter!
PPS. It has come to my attention that the man with the shells is not the owner of the Tiki Bar (also known as Big D's). Big D is the owner, and I had the privelege of meeting this gigantic man yesterday (who actually did that sort of high five ghetto thing with me), when I went back yesterday afternoon for a swim, then a Coke as I sat on one of those loungers underneath a palm tree to watch the water...such a cliche!
